Leadership
Matt Cowan
Co-Director
Matt has 15+ years of valuable experience working on his own boutique PR/marketing consultancy and for Australia’s top publishers (Fairfax and News Ltd) and media agencies.
He is focused on client service, project management and creative strategy.
Prior to founding Story National, Matt worked directly with the likes of Investec, 20th Century Fox, Whirlpool, NSW Rugby, Rooty Hill RSL, Selleys, Defence Housing Australia (DHA) and Go Vita.
Jamie Andrei
Co-Director
Jamie has a wealth of 16+ years experience working on his own entertainment company, with Network Nine and Australia’s top digital advertising agencies.
His focus lies in strategic thinking, production planning, research and cinematography.
Throughout his career Jamie has worked with the likes of: CSIRO, Onesteel, ICAA, Tourism Queensland, Jacob’s Creek, Austrade, Amazon Web Services, Wyndham Estate, Bayer, Rabobank and Foxtel.
Mel Tascone
Associate
Experienced in brand management, strategy and tactical aspects of marketing communications, Melanie has a varied history of working with clients from diverse sectors in the startup, local and federal government and non-profit spaces – including Swan Christian Education Association, Mullins Handcock Lawyers, SRF Earthmoving and Family Business Australia,
Skilled in social media marketing and management, corporate communications, copywriting, press releases, media relations, and marketing, Melanie always focuses on professional and client-centric communication excellence.
Josh Wells
Associate
Josh is a photographer, copywriter and freelance marketer with a passion for storytelling, providence, and community. He has ten years of freelance experience helping local and national clients tell their stories in visual and written media. His people-first photography style has been internationally exhibited and awarded.
Josh also operates Down by 12th Avenue, a food blog dedicated to local small batch makers and chefs, and is a co-founder of ThirdPlaces, an online directory for exquisite hospitality venues Perth.
Consultants
Kim Veale
Kim has over 20 years’ experience as a trainer, delivering on a range of topics from leadership and business management to financial literacy and entrepreneurship. With combined qualifications in Sustainable Development and Small Business Management, Kim has spent the last ten years creating and managing several successful businesses, including Organic Waste Solutions, Epoch Training and Helitech Services Pty Ltd.
Kim is also the founder of the Nautilus Project, a series of workshops and speaking events that enable communities to unlock and harness their creative capital, and has volunteered as a mentor with the School for Social Entrepreneurs (Australia).
Dan Cowan
Dan Cowan is a client-focused and experienced Strategic Services Human Resources & Organisational Development Professional. He has a proven track record of partnering and collaborating with people at all levels of business, from Executive through to frontline employees, to successfully deliver on business strategy.
His focus is always on a positive outcome and benefits for the individual and organisation.
Dan has extensive experience in developing HR strategy and policy, workforce, succession and diversity planning, communication and leadership development.
Russell Wyatt Roberts
Russell is a filmmaker, photographer, animator and co-founder of Black Maria Film Collective, an organisation that aims to foster and cultivate a collective interest in film as an art form. His day-to-day role for BMFC is a Head of Communications and Event Co-ordination.
Russell has written and directed some internationally award winning short films. Russell wrote and directed the first Black Maria original production ’Same Time Monday’ starring Steve Bisley and Liv Richardson.
Outside of film-making, Russell coordinates his BMFC and independent film teams efficiently, talks to sponsors and facilitates a vision into reality.
John Wayan Sullivan
Having a passion for visual storytelling since the age of 10, John has been working as a Producer, Director, Cameraman and Editor for the past 12 years. His works have been featured on the BBC, National Geographic, Discovery and History Channel.
John brings his experience into short form genres, with works in branded content, short stories, commercial and online video courses.
From organizing a shoot remotely to cutting in the edit room, John works both independently and in a team environment. Whether it’s in the middle of the jungle in Thailand or a studio in London, John is well travelled and thrives in challenging environments.
